THE SAFETY OF TRUCKS. PART 2
TRUCKARS SAEKERHET. DEL 2
This report gives the results of an investigation carried out to find the accident frequencies of five types of vehicles in five large Swedish industrial areas. Information was collected concerning accidents and the working hours of the vehicle types, and the statistics compiled by relating accidents to the time of exposure of the vehicles to accidents. The accident frequency was then calculated for each type per industry and also for the whole material. It was found that cars and straddle trucks had more than the average accident frequency for all vehicle types, that the accident frequency of fork-lift trucks was just below average, and that mopeds and cycles, lorries, side loaders and others had an even lower frequency. It does not therefore appear that fork-lift trucks are particularly accident prone. /TRRL/
