SPECIAL AND STANDARD CRANES FOR ALL PURPOSES
Various Liebherr crane ranges developed for shipboard use are described. The Type BW..S, with SWL's of 3 -15 tons and an outreach of up to 15 m is used on ships of limited air draught; this crane can be collapsed to give an overall height of only 650 mm, and can be re-erected and collapsed rapidly by the user. The Type BW..SM range, with SWL's of 5 -35 t and an outreach of up to 22 m, is of narrow construction and is suitable for mounting on ships of up to about. 18 m beam. The standard ship's crane is the Type B, available in a narrow version (Type B..SM) of maximum width 2.4 m, with SWL's of 15 -40 t, or up to 80 t to special order, and with outreaches up to 34 m, and the standard width model (Type B..HP) with SWL's to special order, up to 120 t. The Type PBW..G has been designed for use where the load has to be controlled with minimum swinging, as on supply vessels. In this model the jib is articulated at about half length and the hook remains close to the head of the jib throughout the hoisting movement. Finally there is the Liebherrr BS hose crane for use on tankers. The articles concludes with a brief description of the manufacturer's mobile cranes for port use.
