IMPACT OF ADVANCED COAL BENEFICIATION ON UTILIZATION OF COAL SLURRY FUELS
These Proceedings are in microfiche form. A consensus is emerging that economic beneficiation of coal to less than 3% ash will further enhance the use of coal/water mixtures in existing oil-fired or gas-fired boilers. A large number of coal cleaning processes aimed at achieving this are under development. Several of these are surveyed, and selection criteria are given; areas where further work is needed are identified. Some technologies that are likely to reach commercial use in the next few years are discussed.
