OREDA - THE RELIABILITY DATA REFERENCE FOR THE OFFSHORE INDUSTRY

A cooperative venture on the part of eight of the major oil companies has led to the production of the OREDA Handbook, which provides a comprehensive collection of reliability information derived from the failure and repair records already existing in the company files. The Handbook presents reliability data on about 150 items, many of which are unique to offshore drilling and production installations. In each case there is first a table describing the item and giving general information on its purpose and the environmental conditions to which it is subjected, and secondly a table analysing the failures that have occurred in terms of times in service.
