RESOURCEFUL VIKINGS GO FOR GOLD [M/T DANITA AND M/T NORITA#
Newbuildings Nos. 916 and 918, to be called M/T Danita and M/T Norita respectively, are the first of a new series of product carriers to be built at the Burmeister & Wain yard in Denmark. The Golden Concept, as the new design is called, is based on the yard's long experience in the production of bulk carriers and analysis of the market trends for oil and product carriers. M/T Danita of which a brief description is given, is representative of a series. She is a single-screw tanker built to Det Norske Veritas classification +1A1, tanker for oil and caustic soda, EO, INERT, TMON, COW, PL, SBT. Principal particulars are: Length 228.6 m o.a.; 218.7 m b.p.; Breadth, moulded 32,24 m; Design draught 11.58 m; Deadweight at design draught 54,000 t; Cargo capacity including slop tanks 91,000 cu m; Propulsion 1 x MAN-B&W diesel type 5L70MCE derated to 8,020 kW at 84 rpm.
