More than 20 representative classes of retrofit devices/concepts/techniques, including more than 130 specific items, were examined in the course of the study. A major portion of the analysis effort was directed to the evaluation of 16 advanced, novel, or new carburetors which have the potential to improve automotive fuel economy.
