A RAPID AND RELIABLE ON-SITE METHOD OF ASSESSING DESICCATION IN CLAY SOILS
The remediation of foundation problems involving heave or subsidence of shrinkable clay soils remains an area of geotechnical engineering where decisions are still commonly made without the benefit of proper investigation or a clear understanding of the problem. In this paper a rapid, low-cost method of investigating such problems is described and the results from a few of the cases investigated by the authors over the past twenty years are presented. (A)
