TOWARDS BETTER TRANSPORT PLANNING BY INTEGRATION OF LAND USE WITH TRANSPORT FACILITIES
Cities in developing countries are faced with different kinds of transport problems. Rapid growth of vehicle population, difficulties in improving the existing transport networks within urban limits, and changing trends in activities on abutting properties have brought in complexities while finding solutions to transport problems. It has been shown that the transport problems could be tackled through actions under Operational Planning, Tactical Planning, Strategic Planning and Directional Planning. The procedure to be followed in implementing a structure plan for development of Mass Transport system networks is explained.
