METHANOL, THE FUTURE IN MOTORIZED TRANSPORTATION
The continuous development of motorized transportation demands the development of sources of motor fuels to be used in place of those presently produced from crude oil. Such a replacement fuel may be methanol, which, in many aspects, is better than the currently used fuels. The use of methanol as a motor fuel is discussed with respect to: (1) replacing gasoline; (2) faults and disadvantages; (3) use in high compression engines; (4) current production techniques; (5) raw material bases; (6) price forecasting relative to other fuels; and (7) the specific situation of Poland as a producer of methanol.
