MMI DESIGN FOR AICC AND COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEMS
This paper describes experiments which investigate the presentation of: a) AICC (Autonomous Intelligent Cruise Control); and b) Collision Avoidance Systems (CAS) information to the driver. The first, carried out by the Transport Research Laboratory, used a driving simulator to develop and evaluate graphic display design. The second experiment, carried out by British Aerospace, investigated audial and haptic collision warnings using a CAS equipped experimental vehicle. Brief details of the experimental design of both experiments is provided. For the covering abstract see IRRD 868006.
