LAUNCELOT. SELF-ELEVATING ACCOMMODATION AND MAINTENANCE PLATFORM BUILT BY BOELE'S SHIPYARDS AND ENGINEERING WORKS B.V. AT BOLNES
The self-elevating accommodation and maintenance platform Launcelot built by Boele's Shipyards and Engineering Works B.V. was recently delivered to Land & Marine Engineering, Bromborough, England, an affiliated company of the Dutch Royal Westminster Boskalis Group. The platform will be used as an accommodation platform for the crews of production platfomns in need of major repairs. The platform can also carry out maintenance work and is therefore fitted with a demountable 80-tonne crane with a radius of 30 metres. The principal technical data given for Launcelot includes the following:-- HULL/PLATFORM: Length, 40m; breadth, 40m; depth, 5m; design draught <max.> 2.5m. LEGS; Number, 4; type, square closed; size, 2.2 x 2.3m; length, 71.6m; footing, 25 sq m. JACKING SYSTEMS: Type, MSC electro hydraulic; capacity, 1,600 tonne pre-load per leg; speeds, pontoon jacking 16 m/hr, legs jacking 30 m/hr.
