ESTIMATED MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR REQUIREMENTS FOR COAL-FIRED PROPULSION SYSTEMS

This report is in microfiche form. The unique maintenance and repair requirements, in terms of manpower and materials, for coal-fired steam-turbine propulsion plants are identified. This was achieved by conducting surveys of industrial and marine coal-fired plant operat- ors and manufacturers of coal-firing equipment in order to etsbalish a database of manpower and material requirements for a range of plant sizes. A notional propulsion plant was then developed, and the maintenance database was adapted to this coal-fired marine system.
