MANOEUVRABILITY CALCULATION AND DETERMINATION OF RUDDER AREA FOR FISHING VESSELS

Because fishing vessels differ from cargo ships both in hull proportions and in operating requirements, their manoeuvring characteristics have to be specially considered at the design stage. This article presents the results of analytical and model-test studies of the manoeuvrability of typical fishing vessels leading to recommended formulae for calculating rudder area. The formulae allow for storm conditions.
