ASSESSMENT OF THE LEVEL OF EMISSION ACCORDING TO NOISE-FORECASTING PROCESSES FOR RAILWAY TRAFFIC IN THE ACCESSED AREA, FORMERLY GDR

UEBERPRUEFUNG DER EMISSIONSPEGEL IN GERAUSCHPROGNOSEVERFAHREN FUER SCHIENENVERKEHR IM BEITRITTSGEBIET

The purpose of the reported study was to determine the emission rating of the vehicles on the railway network of the German Reichsbahn. In accordance with this intention extensive measuring procedures and calculations for the assessment of sound propagation and noise emission were employed. Measuring procedures to determine their respective noise emissions were carried out at altogether seven different double-tracked sections of the German Reichsbahn in the aforementioned area in the time between the months of June and November 1992. The emission rating was determined separately for each track and for each different type of vehicle. The hereby compiled data demonstrates that at given measuring sections chosen with an 'on an average good' condition of the track, similar to the one taken as a basis for Schall 03, the corrected threshhold value was just reached or remained under in most cases. This signifies that the basis of calculation of the sound emmission of railway track systems as defined by Schall 03 can also be applied to the sections of track belonging to the German Reichsbahn.
