ELECTRONIC WARFARE II - ASPECTS OF EW

Five primary aspects of EW each have a vital function in enabling a country, a naval task force, or an individual naval unit to "manage" its EW. They are: SIGINT (or COMINT) - Signal Intelligence (or Communications Intelligence); ELINT - Electronic Intelligence; ESM - Electronic Support Measures; ECM - Electronic Countermeasures; ECCM - Electronic Counter Countermeasures. Each is considered in some detail, and the article concludes with a general discussion of some operational aspects of EW.
