1985 PLATFORM SURVEY

This survey, of fixed offshore platforms under construction or planned, is based on returns from 91 companies worldwide <a 68% response> and lists each operator together with brief particulars of the platforms concerned. A foreword mentions that a total of 396 platforms <100 of them in the Gulf of Mexico> were reported in the returns, that 225 of them were for installation in 1985, and that there is activity in several deep-water areas, including the Gulf of Mexico <seven new units in 300-750 ft water depth>, California <six in 300-1075 ft>, and the North Sea <five platforms in 400-457 ft are planned for Norway, and four in 423-550 ft for the U.K.>.
