EXPERIMENTAL STUDY OF DELAYED PHENOMENA IN PRESTRESSED CONCRETE STRUCTURES
It has been found that serious disorders in relatively recent bridges have been attributable to the combined effects of creep and relaxation phenomena in prestressing steels and concrete, and a long-term experimental study was undertaken on the indeterminate forces in prestressed concrete structures in which the static construction diagram varies with time. This study included the instrumentation of several structures at the time of their construction and the time-measurement of certain variable parameters such as reaction, local deformation, deflection, temperature, etc.. A theoretical study was also conducted which took into account the interdependence of concrete creep and prestressing cable relaxation. Theoretical behavior laws were compared with measurements on a bridge for 4 years. The experimental aspects of the research are detailed.
