NEW ENGINES PRODUCE GOOD RESULTS FOR THE CUNARD COUNTESS
In 1983 Cunard Line placed an order for four 1335 kW Wartsila Vasa 4 R32 engines, replacing the original four 1280 kW auxiliary engines operating on marine diesel oil. The Wartsila Vasa engines are designed for operation on heavy fuel at all loads. Experience with the Cunard Countess clearly shows that existing ships can make use of modern technology to cut their operating costs by using less expensive, poorer quality fuels for electricity production in auxiliary diesel generating sets. <CMO>.>6 *165,597>1 *3Recent
