ON THE STABILITY DERIVATIVES OF HIGH SPEED SHIPS OSCILLATING AT LOW FREQUENCY
This paper presents a theoretical method of calculating the hydrodynamic derivatives for sway and yaw of high speed ships oscillating at low frequency, taking into consideration the lifting-surface problem, and assuming high Froude number and low frequency, as well as the thin-ship approximation. A series of sway and yaw oscillation experiments for a flat plate and Wigley ship model was carried out at the Osaka University Experimental Tank and the test results were compared with present and past theories.
