THE USE OF SCHOLASTIC TESTS OF DRIVING KNOWLEDGE AND THE NATIONAL LICENSING TEST AND CRITERIA FOR EVALUATING THE EFFECTS OF DRIVER EDUCATION
The purpose of this study is to determine the feasibility of using scholastic tests and the national licensing test as criteria for evaluating driver education. The purpose of evaluation is discussed and the kinds of criteria which may be used are considered. The nature of the experimental design is referred to. Data are given on the relation between driver education and subsequent performance taking into account such considerations as number of hours instruction, number learning to drive, instruction method and age. The study concludes that driver education results in an increased knowledge of the rules and the transfer of at least some of them to the driving task. /TRRL/
