THE EFFECT OF THE VARIATION OF CONSISTENCY IN RESIDUAL SOILS ON LOAD TRANSFER BY BORED PILES
The effect of the variation of soil consistency with depth on the behaviour of bored piles is examined by the finite element method. Consistency is represented by the modulus of elasticity. Two typical weathered profiles were chosen for analysis, consisting of weathered soil, transition and rock zones. Results show that the transfer of load under working stresses is dependent on the variation of consistency with depth. No field results are available to verify this analysis. /Author/TRRL/
