ROAD TRAFFIC LAW 1975
The object of this 1975 edition of road traffic law, as codified by law no 105, 1960 and subsequent amendments, is to prevent hazards on roads in Japan, to ensure the safety and smooth-flow of traffic, and to contribute towards elimination of obstacles that could occur in vehicular traffic. The general provisions of the law are defined in chapter 1; and following chapters are devoted to pedestrians; vehicles and street-car traffic; the duties of drivers, employers, etc.; exceptions to motor vehicle traffic on national expressways etc; road usage and related activities; licenses; miscellaneous and penal provisions; and exceptions to procedures related to traffic violations. /TRRL/
