MODULARIZED ENGINE ROOM IN DREDGER (MERSEY VENTURE)

The 2647-grt twin-screw trailing-suction dredger Mersey Venture, which has previously been described <see Abs.No.61203, Jan. 1984>, is Appledore Shipbuilders' first ship to have a completely modularised engine-room. The present article describes this engine-room and its machinery and associated equipment, and includes brief information on Appledore's approach to engine-room design and outfitting.
