ADVANCES IN THE CALCULATION OF THE MAXIMA OF SHIP RESPONSES

In this paper, problems associated with calculation of the probability distribution of ship response maxima are considered. The method used at present is briefly analysed and its main shortcomings are outlined. Then a new method is presented in which the sea state is assumed to remain unchanged during a half hour interval and the maxima in two subsequent half hour intervals are assumed to be independent. Finally, numerical comparisons are presented.
