FAILURE IDENTIFICATION OF OFFSHORE INDUCTION MOTOR SYSTEMS USING ON CONDITION MONITORING

This paper deals with the identification of faults in 3-phase squirrel cage induction motors. The reasons for monitoring vibration, current and stray flux signals in a unified approach are given, and a fault producing test rig and computer-based signal processing system are described. The results show that a malfunction can be identified from various signals. In certain situations the reliability of fault diagnosis could be improved by the monitoring strategy proposed in this paper.
