M.S. KERINCI -- FIRST INDONESIAN PASSENGER SHIP FROM THE MEYER YARD

Built at the Papenburg yard of Jospeh L. Meyer, the M.S. Kerinci is the first of four 14,000-ton passenger ships ordered by the Indonesian Government Directorate General of Sea Communications by whom she will be operated on inter-island service. Principal particulars are:- Length 144m o.a., 130m b.p.; Moulded breadth 23.4m; Depth No. 1 deck 5.6m, No. 2 deck 8.2m; Draught 5.9m; Accommodation for 1596 passengers, 119 crew; Classification KI + A100 1 Passenger Vessel + SM <0-16/24>. Propulsion twin MaK Diesels type 6Mu601 delivering 6,250 kW at 428 rpm; service speed 20 kn at 85% m.c.r. and 15% sea margin.
