This symposium was arranged in order to survey existing methods of static penetration testing and their suitability for Swedish conditions. Five main statements were presented as well as three reports on development work in progress in Swedish companies. The following reports updated to 1975 are included: statements: 1. Dahlberg,R, Swedish and foreign static penetration methods; 2. Broms,B, Interpretation of results from static penetration; 3. Bergdahl, U, Static penetration tests in cohesionless soils - results from a laboratory investigation; 4. Hansbo, S, The use of the Nilcon static penetrometer in soil investigation; 5. Kallstenius, T, Experiences from static penetration tests. Present development work on penetration equipment in Sweden: 1. Haeghby,A, Development of the Borros penetrometer equipment and data-registration of results from field and laboratory investigations; 2. Nilsson,S, The new Nilcon geotechnical equipment for field investigation; 3. Jonell,P, The geotech acoustic penetrometer. Prepared contribution to the discussion: 1.
