APPLICATION OF HIGHLY FLEXIBLE COUPLINGS IN ENERGY-SAVING SHIP PROPULSION

As a consequence of the steep rise in fuel costs over the past decade much consideration has been given to the possibilities of energy- saving in ship propulsion. In this paper, the service performance of a number of ships fitted with various arrangements of slow-running diesel engines and Vulkan EZR flexible couplings is evaluated.
