DAY-TO-DAY VARIATIONS IN ROAD ACCIDENT FREQUENCY IN BRITAIN
Variations in the daily number of accidents on British motorways and class a roads in 1971 have been analysed with respect to weather and seasonal factors. The mean daily number of accidents was 360 and the variance 5609. Seasonal and weather effects were found difficult to separate, but there was an appreciable increase in accident numbers on some (but not all) wet days. The increase in wet weather was greater for accidents not involving pedestrians and two-wheeled vehicles. /TRRL/
