ATLANTIC: CRUISE VESSEL FROM THE SOUTH OF FRANCE

The cruise ship Atlantic built at La Seyne by CNIM, was delivered to Home Lines Inc. in Apr. 1982, following which the yard started work on a similar ship, to be named Fairsky, for Sitmar Cruises.The article briefly describes Atlantic, which has a passenger capacity of 1278 in 554 cabins and six luxury suites. The many passenger amenities are on a total of five decks. There is accommodation for 43 officers and 447 crew. Principal particulars are:- Length, o.a. 204.7m, b.p. 179.92m; Breadth, max. 27.35m; Depth, to saloon deck 22.75m; Draught, max. 7.38m; Deadweight 4800 t; Propulsion Two GMT type B600.10 main engines, mcr 15,000 bhp each at 160 rpm; Trials speed 23.6 knots on 7.38m draught at mcr.
