SHIP BEHAVIOUR IN PORTS AND THEIR APPROACHES. PART 1. BOW AND STERN SINKAGES CAUSED BY INTERACTION BETWEEN PASSING SHIPS

It is hoped that this series of five documents will ultimately provide a compendium of information upon ship behaviour problems in confined waterways. The hydrodynamic interaction between passing ships discussed in this first report is concerned solely with the vertical motions brought about by interactive forces, i.e. changes in trim and additional sinkages. The additional water depth requirement due to this vertical motion can now be predicted, within limitations.
