BASIC DESIGN CRITERIA FOR OFFSHORE PROTECTION VESSELS
This paper deals with the main points leading to the selection of the size and type of ships best suited to meet various operational roles and conditions and puts forward certain design aspects concerning the incorporation of multi-role capabilities. It also examines basic design criteria associated with hull forms in relation to ship speed, motion in a seaway and stability, ship configuration, layout and outfitting. Its aim is to define the broad pattern of design requirements rather than to detail all theoretical features.
