DESIGN TABLES FOR DETERMINING THE BEDDING CONSTRUCTION OF VITRIFIED CLAY PIPELINES (FOR BS EN 295:1991 PIPE STRENGTHS). FIFTH EDITION

The guide is for BS EN 295: 1991 pipe strengths. Tables 1 to 20 have design loads calculated as the fill load plus that due to the appropriate traffic load. Design loads are multiplied by the safety factor and divided by the crushing strength to give the minimum bedding factor. Trench widths increase in 100mm intervals. Table 21 gives the fill loads per metre on pipes of 100mm to 600mm diameter in wide trench conditions. Similar loadings are given for fill loads on pipes in narrow trench conditions in Table 22 for widths of 0.5m to 2.6m. Table 23 is for traffic wheel loads for sewers laid in fields, gardens and lightly trafficked access roads. Sewers under main traffic routes and temporary diversions of heavy traffic loads are covered in Table 24. The construction of trench beddings, bedding factors and the calculation of equivalent water loads are topics covered in a separate section.
