NEW TECHNOLOGIES FOR PERSONALIZING PUBLIC TRANSPORT
A system is currently being developed in Australia to radically improve the convenience of public transport, by creating more balanced and accessible services. Utilizing recent developments in computer and communications technology, "Personal Public Transport" has three aims. The first is to provide the public with information on existing services, in real-time; the second is to widen the range of transport services by introducing new multi-hire modes, between networks of electronic bus stops; and the third is to integrate all modes of transport, including existing scheduled and single hire services as well as the new multihire modes.
