CAPACITY OF FREEWAY ON-RAMPS ON GERMAN MOTORWAYS

The question of capacity is of great importance for the design of busy roads. The German guideline for grade-separated junctions h deficiencies in describing traffic quality and capacity. During research project,a technical procedure has been developed for dimensioning on-ramps on grade-separated junctions. The procedur based on empirical investigations. The calibration results are expressed in the form of diagrams. They offer a practical proced which enables the user to judge the traffic quality and quantity on- ramp sections of motorways. This procedure is mainly valid fo urban motorways. (a)
