It is designed for use in urban traffic control and traffic monitoring and management. Features of the system are outlined and 3 configurations described for particular applications. Examples are given of the use of RMTS. These include a) the use of side-fire highway monitoring to count traffic, b) forward-looking highway monitoringfor speed detection, c) side-fired actuated intersection control, d) diagonal mounting actuated intersection control, e) forward-looking actuated intersection control and f) an automatic incident detection system.
