SIGNS OF THINGS TO COME
The Department of Transport (DOT) commissioned TRL to conduct two signing surveys on trunk and principal roads, prior to the introduction of the signing and guarding provisions in the New Roads and Street Works Act 1991, given in revised Chapter 8 of the Traffic Signs Manual (see IRRD 842870). In June 1993 a further survey was undertaken to see if any improvements had occurred, and the findings published in TRL Project Report PR 88 (see IRRD 864974). The findings are briefly summarised in this article.
