THE MANAGEABILITY OF CAR SEAT BELTS
BILBAELTENS HANTERBARHET
The manageability of twelve seat belts was studied in an experiment. Manageability was measured both totally and divided into six component processes: taking down, locking, length adjustment inwards, unlocking, length adjustment outwards and hanging up. Three measures were used: time, number of errors and subjective estimates. The results indicate that at least for the total manageability the so called inertia reel belts give the best performance irrespective of the measure used. In a study of seat belt use, which was carried out during the same period, the results indicate that the inertia reel belts have a positive effect on the utilization frequencies. (A) /TRRL/
