TRAFFIC SIGNALS - SOME MEASUREMENT OF INTENSITY AND VISIBILITY
TRAFIKSIGNALER NAAGRA MAETNINGAR AV LJUSSTYRKA OCH SYNBARHET
Some measurements of the intensity and visibility of traffic signals have been made. Intensity measurements have been made partly in the laboratory on brand new signals, partly in traffic on in-service signals. The visibility of the new signals was studied by means of a subjective estimation method under four conditions: daylight, darkness and extremely low sun, behind and in front of the observers. In the results and the discussion comparisons are made partly between the values of new and the in-service signals and partly between different types of signals. The measurements of intensity and visibility are also analyzed together and visibility is expressed as a function of signal intensity for the various conditions. (A) /TRRL/
