TRAFFIC NOISE PREDICTION WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO FREE-FLOW ROAD TRAFFIC
This report contains an application of theory to road traffic noise. Predictive equations for L10 and leq are derived from purely analytical considerations, and are further developed by the inclusion of a noise peak-level statistical model derived from published data. The resulting equations are expressed in terms of commonly-used traffic parameters, and tested against measured data for a wide range of conditions. The equation for L10, of a form similar to that of delany is shown to be of similar accuracy to delany's equation. An equation for leq is shown to easily be derived from the general model and gives a standard deviation of error of 3.4db(a) when tested against measured data (which compares with 3.3db(a) on L10). /TRRL/
