Stina is a nordic road research project with the aim of applying test results from other countries to conditions in the nordic countries as regards subgrade strength, traffic load and climate, and especially the results of the AASHO road test in USA. A considerable part of the Stina investigation comprises an inventory and review of research efforts abroad on subjects common to the stina project, including an inventory of road failure conditions in the nordic countries. The inventory of other countries was performed by literature studies and study visits. The nordic inventory included road design and climatic and geological factors influencing road failure. A panel rating was also performed in order to implement the serviceability concept in nordic road management. The present report summarizes the results obtained to date and the analyses made of these results. The results obtained will form a basis for the analysis of the next activities; field tests of nordic subgrades and laboratory measurements on field samples. /TRRL/
