ADVANCED URBAN TRANSPORT
The authors review various forms of automated transport. Types of track, stations, vehicles, methods of suspension and propulsion, control criteria and environmental factors are considered. An economic assessment, based on a study carried out at Coventry, is made and, as a result of the study, the future role of autotram is considered. Developments in the USA, Europe and Japan are outlined and details of nine systems of automated transport at present under development are described in an appendix. /TRRL/
