STUDY INTO THE EFFECTS OF MOBILITY OF THE SECOND TELE-WORKING EXPERIMENT
ONDERZOEK MOBILITEITSEFFECTEN VAN HET TWEEDE EXPERIMENT TELEWERKEN
In the Second Dutch Structure Scheme on Traffic and Transport (1989) the need to decrease the peak hour traffic by 5% is stressed. One of the possibilities to realize this aim is tele-working. Two experiments have been carried out at the request of the Ministry of Traffic and Transport. Two sections of the Ministry, one with 30 participants and the other with 35 participants, were chosen for the experiment. The design of the experiment, the instrument to measure the mobility of the participants, and the efficiency of the method are discussed. The loss of commuting, the work situation at home, the influence on the household, as well as the personal motivation of the participants are also discussed. The results of these before and after studies are mainly positive.
