AN ANALYSIS OF THE PUBLIC INFORMATION AND EDUCATION COUNTERMEASURE: 1974
This study discribes in detail the activities and accomplishments of the Public Information and Education (PI&E) program operated by the Los Angeles County Alcohol Safety Action Project (ASAP). The analysis are limited to very specific questions from the households and roadside surveys for 1972, 1973 and 1974 as well as the results of the preadvertising telephone survey. The development and placing of media material that would be relevant to the residents of Los Angeles County are discussed. The findings from the survey regarding the problem of driving under the influence were used to develop relevant public service announcements. The available data indicates that the Los Angeles County ASAP's public information and education effects appear to be making gains in the area of public awareness and attitudes about the use of alcohol as it relates to driving.
