FUEL TESTS ALSO MONITORS ONBOARD HANDLING
After ten years of operating a fuel quality testing program that assesses heavy fuel oil as it crosses a ship's rail, Veritas Petroleum Services has developed a far more comprehensive service, called Fuel System Check (FSC), designed to diagnose problems with a ship's fuel treatment equipment and ensure that engines receive the best quality fuel possible. The system, which is described, involves a minimum sample set to be taken onboard any ship undergoing FSC. The samples are taken after the transfer pump, before the cleaning processes, after each centrifuge and other piece of cleaning or treatment equipment, and, lastly, as close to the engine as possible. Each report delivered contains the analysis results of the current sample set, with the historical picture of previous sets and point-of-delivery sample analysis. Comprehensive advice is given regarding the operational efficiency of fuel system components.
