APPROXIMATE EQUATIONS FOR BENDING ORTHOTROPIC PLATE

The theory of the bending of orthotropic plates is applied in designing hull structures, with bent elements usually being produced using numerical methods on a computer. The author shows, however, how many of the practical bending problems can be better solved using approximate analytical functions that simplify calculation.
