MAINTAINING PRECAST STRUCTURES: TAKING PROPER CARE OF YOUR INVESTMENT
Building a parking structure is a large and costly undertaking. The formula for the most favorable return on the investment is to begin with the highest quality structure possible and then to maintain it properly. A recent study conducted by the Precast Concrete Institute reports that a typical deck repair is made when a parking facility is 10 to 15 years old. The study also says that, of the 2,500 structures used in the study, precast structures accounted for only 10% of the total repair dollars spent, illustrating the durability of precast concrete. This article offers some recommendations on how to maintain these durable structures.
