APPROXIMATE ELASTIC-PLASTIC SOLUTION FOR AXIALLY LOADED PILES. TECHNICAL NOTE
In this technical note, the author describes an approximate elastic perfectly plastic solution in a closed form for axially loaded single piles under design loads. The method is based on the t-z curves and can account for the nonlinear behavior of the load-settlement curve. Prediction of vertical pile movements and deformations with depth are possible using the solution. Also, simple equations are given for the evaluation of the axial-load distribution. The solution provides the most reasonable results when restricted to design loads and the choice of soil parameters is appropriate. Comparisons with data from full-scale pile tests verify the importance of restriction.
