REVIEW OF IDEAS AND EQUIPMENT FOR WINTER MAINTENANCE IN FINLAND

This paper describes the current winter maintenance equipment and ideas used by the Finnish National Road Administration. Almost half of the paper consists of pictures and figures. The text gives a short description for each case mentioned above. It also reviews results of three studies: the heated sand tests, the reindeer repellant tests and the laboratory abrasion test with elastic blade compounds.
