AUTOMATIC MEASUREMENT OF ROAD STATUS
The Swedish National Road Administration, SNRA, needs to be goal-oriented more than before. One important aspect of this is the system of rules. Realistic methods and routines for status measurements in order to allow monitoring and evaluation of a chosen road maintenance standard are a long-expressed desire in winter road maintenance. Until now, such measurements have been performed manually by special road status observers. This study has been made to determine whether it is technically and economically feasible to produce equipment for automatic measurement of road status (condition).
